About The Position
Responsible for directing, supervising, planning and coordinating the activities and staff of the Police Department; provides responsible and complex support to the City Manager, elected officials and staff. This is an at-will position which is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the Elko City Council. This job class is an executive level classification that is responsible for all Police department functions and activities. Pursuant to City Code Article I Section 1.080, all appointive officers of the City shall perform such duties under the direction of the City Manager as may be designated by the City Council.
