About The Position

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsible for assisting the Poker Manager in leading all departmental initiatives related to the casino hiring, training, process/procedure development, and product/equipment/supplies acquisition and installation. Assisting the Poker Manager in the overall operation, supervision, and administration of the Poker Department. Maintains the Poker Room banks and all variances in the Poker Department. Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for the Poker department. Responsible for assisting in the planning and successful execution of property poker tournaments, ensuring compliance with regulations. Maintains relationships with valued gaming guests and markets the gaming product to potential high-limit guests. In charge of all Poker Supervisors, Poker Clerks and Poker Dealers. Help with regular reports on the status of each shift including morale, technical skill levels of employees, and staffing requirements. Understanding procedures to uphold strict adherence to state regulations and internal controls related to departmental processes. Recommends policy changes according to procedure. Deals with the difficult circumstances that arise on the gaming floor in a constructive and business-like manner, balancing the interest of the customer, employee, and company. Endeavors to build new relationships and cultivate existing ones by positively, enthusiastically, and regularly engaging with customers while they play. Provides an outstanding Poker experience/environment. Responsible for the achievement of Total Service objectives and return visits of profitable customers. Participates in the supervision, operation, and/or support of the CVA Bad Beat system(s). EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school) or 3-5 years equivalent training/experience required. Minimum of five years' Poker operations experience with progressive supervisory/management experience required. Literate and fluent in English Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with employees at all levels. Strong organizational and analytical skills Computer literacy Ability to handle complex and emotional issues. Acts as a role model to other employees and always leads by example. Adheres to all regulatory, company, and department policies and procedures. Must project professionalism and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional appearance. Must be able to work any shift. Team player. Must be able to obtain a required VA Gaming license. PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work independently. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods (4 hours). Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts. Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.; and can push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, and kneel. Respond to visual and aural cues. Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights. Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
