About The Position

The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating point of care patient testing, facilitating compliance with alliance procedures and policies and with regulatory requirements. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: EDUCATION: • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science with at least one year experience with high complexity testing, or • Associate degree in a clinical laboratory science or medical technology program with at least three years experience with high complexity testing. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to professionally interact with patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Must have excellent customer service skills including superior communication skills (verbal, written, and listening). Must have good analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a stressful environment. Superior time management, planning and organization skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Critical thinking skills to support quality decision-making Working knowledge of basic computer applications, such as word and excel LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: MT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred. Performs on-site review of patient testing, quality control and maintenance logs and reports problems and regulatory non-compliance to appropriate management personnel. Facilitates and ensures documentation of competency training, and oversees completion of proficiency testing programs. Provides on-site technical resource assistance to point of care personnel for problem solving related to quality control and instrument performance. Maintains records required for regulatory compliance for quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance and corrective actions. In conjunction with the manager, provides a communication link to point of care departments from the technical specialist, to include implementation of new instruments, policies and procedures. Assists the technical specialist in selection and validation of new methods. Ensures that a system is in place for adequate point of care inventory control. Maintains currency in the field through participation in continuing education opportunities. Provides assistance to the Director by performing all other duties as assigned.
