About The Position

The Point of Care Coordinator is a medical laboratory scientist responsible for the oversight of hospital Point of Care Testing (POCT) (non-waived) in accordance with State and Federal regulations and accreditation standards. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related science.
• Five Years Laboratory Experience, including a minimum of two years in a POCT environment.
• American Medical Technologists certification.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certification.
• In licensure states, Laboratory Supervisor Level Licensure in appropriate specialty(ies) for the department or location assignment as applicable to the state.
• In non-licensure states, must hold a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT unless grandfathered per state requirement.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the Quality Management of the POCT program is maintained in adherence to applicable regulations and accreditation standards.
• Maintains POCT policies and procedures.
• Maintains self-competencies required to oversee the POCT program.
• Represents the AdventHealth Laboratory department in a manner consistent with supervisory responsibility in patient, employee, visitor, and physician interactions.
• Ensures all testing personnel have required training and competency assessment maintained and appropriately documented.
