About The Position

Responsible for the coordination and technical oversight of the POC testing in the organization. Supports the needs of the laboratory and other service lines through education, training and competency in compliance with state, accreditation and regulatory standards regarding Point of Care. Provide excellent customer service both internal and external.

Requirements

Graduate from a qualified medical technology program.
Clinical experience under a licensed Pathologist. Excellent communication skills and ability to initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the healthcare team, to include medical staff leadership, hospital leadership, and front-line staff. Detail-oriented; must maintain a confidential, secure, and accurate data environment.
Registration required by ASCP or equivalent Board of Registry as a Medical Technologist is required.

Responsibilities

Initial point-of-care training for all staff.
Ensures that appropriate quality control testing is performed for each procedure and reviews and maintains all QC records.
Ensures that all proficiency testing is performed and sent to the appropriate regulatory agency.
Ensures that proper instrument maintenance is performed and documented on all point-of-care instruments.
Assist with training of new associates and evaluating new instrumentation.
Participation in the lab continuing education program.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
