About The Position

Granite Hills Hospital offers high-quality, patient centered care for the greater Milwaukee community. With a wide range of treatment for children, adolescents, adults and older adults, our mission is to provide much needed outcome-focused care for those who need it most. Our new 120-bed facility will feature evidence-based treatment modalities and a multi-disciplinary team led by expert medical professionals. The 120 beds are split into 5 groups of 24 with enclosed outdoor spaces to promote healing. Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates with Assessment and Referral regarding potential admissions. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school, completed residency in psychiatry, board certification preferred.
  • Licensed as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
  • Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred.
  • Must maintain active status with medical staff.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures.
  • Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques.
  • Ability to sit for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist, turn, twist and manipulate small tools (copier, computer, telephone, calculator, safe, fax machine).
  • Ability to move frequently in the completion of job requirements.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks under deadlines and with short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • board certification preferred.
