About The Position

Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise. This APP will be responsible for providing behavioral health services to individual patients and families across the continuum of care. Our professional, patient centered, and compassionate behavioral health providers and support staff are a source of excellent support and extensive resources. The Behavioral Health Division at Essentia Health includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and dedicated support staff. This highly respected and rapidly growing team has access to top-notch facilities that provide the ideal setting for candidates seeking a professional atmosphere for their practices.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a specialty focus in mental health.
  • Certified by a professional organization in order to exercise advanced competencies including mental health promotion and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse and Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • National certification in applicable area.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience and competence preferred.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and to use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in an environment of multiple demands and use of good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
  • Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, seeking consultation when necessary, and referring patients to other providers when necessary.
  • Collaborating within the interdisciplinary team to promote behavioral health services on the continuum of care.
