About The Position

The Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for daily cleaning and upkeep of the kitchen and assigned back of the house areas. This role involves organizing and setting up the station according to the set-up chart or as instructed by the Chief Steward or kitchen management to execute tasks efficiently and in a timely manner without loss of product or damage to kitchen equipment or dishware. The position requires the ability to properly assemble all tools and utensils needed to accomplish job duties, prioritize work, and ensure immediate needs are met. The Steward/Dishwasher must understand and follow sanitation practices, keeping the station clean and neat during shifts and ensuring it is ready for the oncoming shift. Responsibilities also include sweeping, mopping, and major kitchen cleaning projects such as stoves and ovens on a weekly rotating basis. Proper personal hygiene and professional dress are essential, including the use of rubber gloves when necessary. Knowledge of special cleaning chemicals, compounds, and sanitizers is required, and employees will be trained to use these chemicals safely and efficiently within OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to work in this area.
  • Job related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily cleaning and upkeep of the kitchen and assigned back of the house areas.
  • Organizes and sets up station according to set-up chart or as instructed by the Chief Steward or kitchen management.
  • Properly assembles all tools and utensils needed to accomplish job duties.
  • Exhibits ability to prioritize work and ensure immediate needs are met.
  • Understands and shows commitment to teamwork, knowing when to ask or offer help.
  • Returns soiled food preparation utensils and other small-ware items to the proper areas.
  • Follows sanitation practices and keeps station clean and neat during shift.
  • Helps maintain general kitchen cleanliness, including sweeping and mopping duties.
  • Participates in major kitchen cleaning projects such as stoves and ovens on a weekly basis.
  • Exhibits and uses proper personal hygiene and dresses professionally.
  • Keeps cuts, abrasions, and sores covered and uses rubber gloves when necessary.
  • Knowledge of special cleaning chemicals, compounds, and sanitizers.
