About The Position

Providing students with appropriate learning activities and experience in technical plumbing skills to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Requirements

  • High school diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Journeyman Plumber’s License or higher issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners
  • Four (4) years of successful related experience
  • Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems

Responsibilities

  • Supervise plumbing students as they practice hands-on learning experiences.
  • Serve as a mentor for students; provide master plumbing expertise and instruction to individual students.
  • Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons.
  • Provide a safe environment for all students.
  • Assist in supporting the rules, regulations, and safety of the facility.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Complete an incident report for all accidents and injuries.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
