About The Position
As a Plumbing Project Manager / Estimator at Robert Gibb & Sons Inc., you will play a crucial role in overseeing a variety of construction projects from inception to completion. Founded in 1915, our company is a leading full-service mechanical contractor in the Midwest, specializing in plumbing, heating, electrical, and underground sewer and water utilities. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the cost estimates, quotes, and bids for projects, ensuring that all construction procedures are organized and executed efficiently and on time. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing engineering drawings related to plumbing and piping specialties, which include steam, sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water distribution systems, purified water systems, medical gas systems, natural gas, compressed air, and vacuum systems. You will manage multiple mechanical construction projects of varying sizes, creating project schedules, budgets, and cost code schedules. Collaboration with field labor supervision will be essential to plan, organize, and schedule project work effectively. You will also be tasked with developing the scope of work for subcontractors, optimizing job costs by negotiating prices with vendors and subcontractors, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for each job. Your role will require you to hold pre-bid meetings with managers to review project scope and strategy, prioritize and organize projects efficiently, and analyze project drawings to determine estimated scope. Additionally, you will oversee job sites to evaluate safety, quality, production, and compliance with procedural and regulatory standards. Flexibility to work overtime or weekends may be required as project demands dictate.
