About The Position

Murphy Company, a leading mechanical contractor since 1907, is seeking a Plumbing/Piping BIM Designer/Detailer & Trimble Lead for our BIM team in St. Louis, MO. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a 3D plumbing fabrication model from design drawings, ensuring that the system can be fabricated and installed in compliance with all applicable codes, industry standards, and installation requirements. Additionally, this role involves supporting the field in using robotic total stations and Trimble technology.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience with BIM.
  • 1 year of field experience with plumbing installation.
  • High understanding of current plumbing codes (2009 and 2016).
  • Willingness to learn the intricacies of the St. Louis Plumbing Code.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, Revizto, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Experience with BIM Collaboration tools (C4R, BIM 360).
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Fabrication CADmep is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of architectural, structural, MEP, and fire sprinkler drawings.
  • High sense of collaboration with design team and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project coordination meetings.
  • Knowledge of detailed plumbing models, layouts, and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Create a 3D plumbing fabrication model from design drawings.
  • Detail plumbing systems for fabrication and installation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Support field teams in using Trimble and robotic total stations.
  • Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) reports.
  • Create isometric spool drawings.
  • Provide construction support and coordination during project execution.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with design team members, estimators, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct clash detection to avoid collisions among trades.
