About The Position

The Plumbing Counter Sales position is responsible for providing knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous service to customers while supporting warehouse operations as needed. This role focuses on assisting customers at the sales counter, processing orders accurately, and ensuring timely product availability, while also contributing to inventory control, order fulfillment, and facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both sales and warehouse environments.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in counter sales, warehouse, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory/order entry systems.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Plumbing product knowledge is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers at the counter by taking orders and entering them accurately into the system, with priority given to regular accounts.
  • Provide product, pricing, and availability information using electronic and published catalogs.
  • Increase sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales, promotional items, and new products.
  • Handle customer complaints and returns with professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Work with other departments to resolve service issues in a timely manner.
  • Attend product knowledge meetings as required.
  • Maintain a professional image and ensure the counter area is clean, organized, and stocked with current inventory and promotional items.
  • Pull, fill, pack, and stage orders for delivery or pickup.
  • Accurately receive shipments, log items into inventory, and maintain accuracy through audits.
  • Track and communicate the status of orders at any given time, following special instructions as needed.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently; maintain certification and perform vehicle safety checks.
  • Assist in scheduled physical inventory counts.
  • Process customer returns accurately.
  • Keep the warehouse and facility clean, organized, safe, and operating efficiently.
  • Assist in maintaining facility security and compliance with safety guidelines in a drug-free workplace.
  • Maintain proficiency in computerized systems and technologies as required.
