About The Position

System Service & Engineering is looking for a driven Plumbing Construction Estimator to deliver accurate, competitive estimates for commercial plumbing and medical gas projects. In this role, you’ll review drawings and specs, build detailed cost breakdowns, and manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment. You’ll collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors, while supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives. Requirements

  • Experience in Commercial Plumbing and Medical Gas Estimating.
  • Field experience in plumbing and medical gas system installation.
  • Experience with digital takeoff software.
  • Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.
  • Experience with plumbing and medical gas codes.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PDF documents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed material takeoffs for commercial plumbing and medical gas systems.
  • Deliver estimates that support company revenue goals and profit margins.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet bid deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to ensure complete scope coverage.
  • Develop accurate, detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for commercial plumbing and medical gas systems.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Provide input on value engineering and cost-saving measures to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  • Ability to develop a scope of work, provide budgetary pricing and design assist based on customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, bid documents, and project correspondence.
  • Maintain an organized database of bid results for future pricing.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather necessary data for accurate estimating.
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Reliable, strong work ethic and accountability.
  • Work closely with estimators, project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and address any concerns.
