The primary purpose of a plumbing apprentice is to learn the trade through hands-on experience. Under the supervision of a licensed plumber, apprentices assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems while gaining familiarity with tools, materials, and job site procedures. They also study plumbing codes, safety standards, and technical concepts such as understanding water and gas systems. Through on-the-job training, apprentices accumulate the required hours and knowledge to eventually qualify for the journeyman plumber exam, with the ultimate goal of becoming a licensed professional capable of working independently.
