In this vital role, you'll lead and supervise inmate work crews, maintain plumbing tools and equipment, and perform preventive maintenance on all facility plumbing systems. Responsibilities include cleaning sewer lines, repairing fixtures, and completing a variety of general maintenance tasks.   • Cleans small and large sewer drains and repairs toilets, sinks, faucets, water heaters, and boilers
  • Installs plumbing fixtures, plumbing drains, and water lines
  • Conducts general maintenance as instructed by supervisors
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
  • One (1) year of journeyman-level plumbing experience
  • Knowledge of general building and preventative maintenance
  • Knowledge of water heaters, water softeners, water boilers, drainage, waste systems, backflows, and plumbing tools/equipment
  • Knowledge of national and local building codes and safety practices
  • Knowledge of commercial gas lines
  • Knowledge of basic blueprints
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Skill in scheduling of maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs for the facility
  • Skill in time management and organizational techniques/methods
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to push/pull 50lbs
  • Ability to walk/run 0.25 miles
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and sketches
  • Ability to remodel, install, and construct utility services
  • Ability to work in a prison environment
