As a Plumber, you will help ensure the systems that support daily life across our campus operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with healthcare standards. Working as part of the Facilities team, you’ll perform plumbing maintenance, repairs, and system improvements that support resident safety, sanitation, and environmental comfort. From maintaining hot water systems and repairing fixtures to responding quickly to service requests, your work helps ensure a safe and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Skilled plumbing experience with domestic water, sanitary, and drainage systems
  • Knowledge of hot water temperature control requirements and scald prevention practices
  • Familiarity with healthcare safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for documentation, safety procedures, and communication
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and technical problem-solving skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with residents and team members
  • Commitment to resident-centered service and professionalism in healthcare environments
  • Ability to work discreetly in occupied resident areas
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for the majority of the shift
  • Ability to perform the physical tasks required for maintenance and repair work

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Essential Plumbing Systems Perform corrective maintenance on domestic hot and cold water systems, sanitary sewer systems, and storm drainage systems across campus.
  • Repair and replace plumbing components, including faucets, flush valves, mixing valves, sinks, toilets, shower valves, water heaters, and related fixtures.
  • Maintain and monitor hot water distribution systems to ensure temperatures meet healthcare regulatory standards and minimize scalding risk.
  • Identify and resolve leads, drainage issues, and water intrusion to protect resident care environments.
  • Maintain plumbing systems in resident rooms, nursing units, therapy areas, kitchens, laundry facilities, and common spaces while minimizing disruption to care services.
  • Respond to Service Needs Respond promptly to plumbing work orders and service calls, prioritizing resident safety and water damage prevention.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing issues and implement effective solutions to restore service quickly.
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work performed, track work orders, and record system repairs and updates.
  • Support Campus Operations Assist with general maintenance tasks involving HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and carpentry work within the scope of training.
  • Support emergency response procedures during utility failures or facility emergencies.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage schedules as required.
  • Assist with snow removal and emergency campus operations when needed.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Professional Service Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and universal precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure plumbing systems meet regulatory and life safety compliance standards in a healthcare environment.
  • Work professionally and discreetly in occupied resident areas while maintaining a resident-centered approach to service.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, residents, and staff to ensure safe and efficient completion of work.
