About The Position

This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Facility Management Division of the General Services Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Tasks performed require journeyman skills and knowledge relevant to plumbing which have been acquired prior to assuming the job. Essential job functions include: installing, repairing and maintaining water, gas, steam, and other pipe systems. The employee performs work independently and is expected to keep accurate records and prepare written estimates of materials needed for various jobs. Assignments are received in the form of verbal instructions, blueprints, or written work orders. The Plumber may be required to act as lead person when working with other employees and has considerable information exchange with City personnel and outside vendors. Work is reviewed by the supervisor upon completion for conformity with established quality standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of plumbing fixtures, materials, and tools utilized for different types of applications.
  • Knowledge of and ability to exercise safety precautions to working performed.
  • Knowledge of plumbing practices and codes.
  • Knowledge of and skill in performing general/preventative maintenance on various plumbing systems.
  • Skill in utilizing tools and machinery related to plumbing trade.
  • Skill in installing and repairing water, gas, steam, and other pipe systems.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, designs, and diagrams of plumbing systems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for work performed.
  • Ability to estimate materials needed for jobs.
  • Ability to record information accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and related effectively to others.
  • Possession of a valid Journeyman Plumbing License.
  • Possession of a valid driver license (Operator).
