Summary: Troubleshoots, repairs, and performs maintenance on all types of equipment/components related to the water, sewer, and steam utility distribution system. Provides support and assistance, as appropriate, and trains other skilled trade personnel engaged in maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High school level courses in English grammar, composition, and mathematics; four (4) years plumbing experience in a large institution, commercial facility, or service company.
  • Two (2) years plumbing trade school; two (2) years plumbing experience in a large institution. commercial facility, or service company,
  • Knowledge of state and local plumbing codes.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize workload, and effectively resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with health care professionals, engineers, contractors, and staff.
  • Ability to analyze data, diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot the facility from mechanical prints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair steam systems up to 150 psi.
  • Requires full range of body motion, including lifting, pulling, pushing of heavy equipment as well as manual and finger dexterity with eye hand coordination.
  • Requires standing, walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires accurate or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires exposure to communicable diseases, burns, and toxic chemicals/solvents.
  • Requires exposure to high voltage and amperage electrical components.
  • Requires exposure to temperature extremes.
  • Requires working in elevated positions using ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
  • Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
