About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs journeyman level work in the alteration and repair of plumbing systems and equipment in the hospital. Requirements

• Work requires elementary technical training such as that which would be acquired in the first year of college or technical school.
• Licensed as a journeyman plumber
• Two years experience in the repair and testing and installation of plumbing equipment and systems.
• Good knowledge of theories and principles of plumbing, piping diagrams for repair and troubleshooting.
• Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

Nice To Haves

• Certified to install medical gas systems, preferred.

Responsibilities

• In conformance with the city plumbing code, repair and perform preventative maintenance on a wide variety of plumbing systems and equipment.
• Make repairs by removing, replacing and installing plumbing devices and components. Locate broken or worn equipment through inspections, observations and tests.
• Test installed equipment and plumbing upon completion.
• Follow blue prints and equipment literature for repairs.
• Trouble shoot sprinkler systems, medical gas systems, deionized water systems, sewage systems, steams and condensate systems and equipment.
