About The Position

Position performs repair, preventative maintenance, and service of all plumbing systems according to building codes and standards. Maintains inventory through planning and purchasing and responds to work requests in a timely manner in a Total Maintenance System (TMS). Supervises inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis. May assist in other areas of Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, carpentry, electronics, or outside maintenance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of corrective maintenance, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance related to plumbing/steam-fitting.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of tools and supplies related to the trade.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep narrative and statistical records relating to the maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and Gmail or preventative maintenance programs.
  • Completion from vocational/technical school, completion of apprenticeship and/or sufficient on-the-job training (OJT) in trade activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge certifications, or experience that enhance their ability to perform the duties of the position. This includes vocational or technical education in plumbing, steam-fitting, or related building trades; completion of a registered apprenticeship; or advanced on‑the‑job training in corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Certifications such as journeyman or master plumber, welding certifications, or training in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems may be beneficial.
  • Experience using preventive maintenance software programs, Total Maintenance System (TMS), or related computerized maintenance systems.
  • Experience in construction projects, equipment repair, or multi‑trade building and grounds maintenance may also be considered valuable.
