About The Position

The Opportunity: As a Plumber/Pipefitter/Steamfitter - Fire Sprinkler Fitter with advanced plumbing and electronics knowledge, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our buildings and facilities safe and fully operational. In this position, you will: Use your journeyman-level plumbing, pipefitting, and welding skills to maintain and repair building infrastructure. Take ownership of fire and life safety systems—you’ll inspect, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarms, suppression systems, and sprinkler systems to ensure everything works flawlessly. Apply your electronics expertise to diagnose and resolve fire alarm issues quickly and accurately. Interpret blueprints and schematics with confidence, ensuring every system meets safety and performance standards. Work independently and as part of a team to keep our facilities running smoothly and safely. Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter OR full journey status as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter in a union OR four years applicable work experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Ability to respond to the worksite on a 24-hour basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Journey-level plumbing or pipefitter certification preferred at time of hire.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a fire alarm technician or equivalent.
  • Welding experience.
  • Welding certification obtained within six (6) months of hire.
  • NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Suppression Systems.
  • NICET Level II Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • NICET Certification in Special Hazard Suppression Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair building infrastructure using plumbing, pipefitting, and welding skills.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarms, suppression systems, and sprinkler systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve fire alarm issues using electronics expertise.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
