About The Position

The Plumber III performs journeyman level skills in the installation, maintenance, remodeling, repair and servicing of plumbing system, and utilities in a mechanisms utility distribution center. Responsible for the prompt performance of assigned plumbing and related duties and mechanism maintenance and repair of utility mains. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Install, repair, and replace waterlines, air lines, gas lines, sewer lines, sump pumps, sewer injectors, domestic water pumps, water heaters, piping, traps, valves, vents, washbowls, sinks, toilet fixtures, fittings, faucets, drains, special laboratory sinks, drain tables, experimental tables, and associated underground utilities. Unstop clogged lines. Cut and thread steel pipe and solder or braze copper pipe. DI and RO water system maintenance and repair. Connect and maintain hot water units and gas heaters, and checks for safety. Complete annual gas line testing and inspections. Perform related duties as assign by the plumbing supervisor, plumbing leader, or any other superior. Assist with simple estimates of time and materials required for a job. Pick up materials and supplies from vendors. Assist other OFM shops and University departments. Responds to on-call emergencies before/during/after normal hours of operation. This includes but not limited to: fires, electrical outages, floods, icy conditions and any other type of campus emergency. Attends shop staff meetings as required. Attends safety training or meetings. Attends plant operations and maintenance training courses. Trains personnel on operational and maintenance produces as required. Drive a UTA owned vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Three (3) years of skilled journeyman-level plumbing.
  • State of Texas Journeyman License required.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Ability to effectively executive oral and written communication in English.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Texas Backflow Prevention Tester Certification required.
  • Five (5) or more years of skilled journeyman-level plumbing.
  • Knowledge of how to operate back hoe and heavy equipment.
