About The Position

This is a regular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt, and benefit-eligible staff position at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. The position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. The role reports to the Supervisor of Plumbing and assumes full responsibility for the Plumbing Shop in the absence of the supervisor. The position involves performing skilled plumbing work in accordance with plumbing codes and assisting in the operation of the shop by establishing priorities and coordinating day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • General education or vocational training and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate a typical motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience working in the plumbing trade.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver License (CDL) and other licenses as may be required for equipment operation.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • An Oklahoma Journeyman Plumber's License.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment including pumps, toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, drinking fountains, faucets, traps, and drains.
  • Cut openings into walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Cut, thread, and bend pipe for installation.
  • Assemble and install controls including meters, valves, regulators, safety devices, and other components necessary for liquid and gas systems.
  • Open clogged drains using plumbers’ snake or vacuum plunger.
  • Install valves, pipe fittings, and manufactured pipes.
  • Maintain water features by cleaning and replenishing chemicals.
  • Perform line locates and analyze blueprints.
  • Operate essential equipment such as a jet sewer machine, backhoe, trencher, and boat.
  • Occasionally perform welding using various welding tools.
  • Be available to help with facilities emergencies, which may require call outs.
  • Perform duties related to special events before, during, and after their completion.
  • Comply with and enforce Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) provisions.
  • Analyze supplies and materials used in the performance of duties.
