About The Position

This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor, North Carolina. This institution is comprised of two units housing close and medium custody offenders. The close custody unit is a 1,000 single-cell unit. The medium custody unit is a 504-bed dormitory style unit. This position is responsible for the ongoing preventive maintenance and continuous repair of water/piping systems throughout the facility. Will install, repair and replace commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, garbage disposal, dishwasher, shower valves, water faucets, flush valves, and related fixtures and equipment. At times this position will be expected to provide assistance to the other maintenance staff in other trades. As such, this position will be cross trained and able to preform or assist in the performance of other construction or maintenance related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
