About The Position

The Plumber Helper position at Amentum involves supporting the Public Works Department in Kauai, HI. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a military or recognized trade school or a minimum of two years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of specific work experience in the plumbing field.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions verbally or from written documents, drawings, or blueprints.
  • Ability to work in and around sewage treatment and disposal areas.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii Driver's License.
  • Must be capable of acquiring the skill and knowledge of proper and safe use of tools and equipment associated with the trade.

Nice To Haves

  • Hawaii certificate for water system operator or back flow prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and operation of compressed air systems, fire suppression systems, sewage treatment and distribution systems, potable water treatment and distribution systems, steam systems, hot water generating systems, petroleum oil and lubricant distribution and storage systems, and buildings and structures plumbing systems.
  • Assist in new construction project installations.
  • Competent with fitting/joining various types of pipes such as copper, galvanized, PVC, ABS, ductile, black, fiberglass, and transite.
  • Knowledge of pumps and electrical motor maintenance.
  • Competent in the safe use of hand and power tools such as oxy/acetylene torches, tapping machines, drills, drain augers, threading machines, victaulic presses, and lathes.
  • Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions while observing safety, fire, health, and work rules.
  • Work with other semi-skilled and skilled crafts-persons and coordinate with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
