Under direct supervision, assists in repairing or replacing plumbing equipment, fixtures, and piping to maintain the hospital's plumbing system. Gains hands-on experience and learns on the job to develop essential plumbing skills.
Assists in inspecting and testing mechanical and plumbing systems under direct supervision.
Helps repair defects in mechanical and plumbing systems by learning and using soldering, brazing, or welding techniques.
Assists in inspecting drain lines using drain line cleaning equipment.
Supports in replacing valves, pipes, and other associated plumbing devices.
Learns to repair, install, and maintain mechanical/plumbing equipment and systems by reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
Assists in preparing estimates of time, labor, and materials for projects.
Helps prepare reports reflecting daily operations and project status.
Assists in operating and maintaining tools and equipment of the plumbing trade.
Learns to clean the work area upon completion of projects.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Enrolled in apprentice training program with two years already completed.
Prior plumbing experience preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of the principles of plumbing and mathematics.
