Wieland is hiring a Plug & Die CNC Machinist . The Plug & Die CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operate Combitec CNC die grinder and Danobat CNC plug grinder as well as a variety of manual machine shop equipment to produce precision tooling. May also fabricate and modify parts to fit special applications, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site. Starting Pay: $20.00 Schedule: C Team (2-2-3) 7am to 7pm Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

  • Must be mechanically inclined, have good problem solving skills, be able to work independently, and be able to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort.
  • Vocational school training and/or substantial relevant work experience is required.
  • Work history will be reviewed for stability where applicable and a clean criminal record is required.
  • Must posses the ability to read and write effectively.
  • Must be proficient in machine shop mathematics.
  • Must have the ability to program and operate Combitec (Studer) and Danobat equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Must be able to perform firm grasping, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, crouching, sitting, negotiating stairs, ladders, and slippery surfaces in a hot/cold (summer/winter) environment, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work safely with, around, and wearing protection for cleaning chemicals, solvents, copper fumes, inks and lubricants
  • Must be able to firmly grasp and use hammers, wrenches, and various hand tools during adjustments, repairs, and replacement / change-out operations.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
  • Determines product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and other measuring devices.
  • Selects the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates all the machine tools and specialized variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Programs computers and electronic instruments such as numerically controlled machine tools.
  • Sets controls to regulate machining, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Checks workpieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled.
  • Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics.
  • Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defect and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • May be required to provide assistance in the plant with assembly, alignment, and fabrication.
  • Responsibilities include housekeeping and care of machine shop equipment.
