The PLS Sample Management Technician I is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt, logging, storage, and retrieval of client samples within a regulated laboratory environment. This role is critical in ensuring sample integrity and traceability throughout the analytical process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in sample management or a related area.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and consistently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GMP regulations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming client samples against accompanying documentation (e.g., chain of custody forms, sample submission forms).
  • Accurately log sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or other designated tracking systems, ensuring proper identification and data entry.
  • Label and aliquot samples according to established procedures and study protocols.
  • Perform proper storage and retrieval of samples from designated storage locations (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, ambient storage) while maintaining appropriate temperature and environmental controls.
  • Conduct routine inventory checks and maintain accurate records of sample locations and quantities.
  • Assist with the preparation and shipment of samples to internal or external laboratories, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Follow all Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain a clean and organized sample management area.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with samples or documentation to appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
