About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking a PLM Solar Technician to join our precision manufacturing team. This role focuses on wire harnessing, solar panel assembly, and bonding processes requiring high attention to detail and technical skill. The ideal candidate has experience with semiconductor-style welding, precise electrical work, and is comfortable working in a smaller, mature team environment. This is the second shift schedule of nights working Monday through Thursday overnight for 10-hour days, 4 days a week.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or college coursework in electronics, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in precision assembly, solar panel production, or semiconductor-style welding.
  • Experience with wire harnessing, bonding, and handling delicate electrical components.
  • High attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Mature, reliable, and able to thrive in a small, focused team environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a standard manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform precise assembly and welding tasks safely.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle small components.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor or micro-welding experience highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in solar panel or aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire solar panels and electrical harnesses with high precision.
  • Perform bonding, soldering, and semiconductor-style welding on small components.
  • Ensure assemblies meet strict quality standards and follow detailed process instructions.
  • Work collaboratively with a small team (~15 people) to manage complex production tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all assemblies, processes, and quality checks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives for PLM and solar production.
  • Operate specialized equipment for wire harnessing, bonding, and assembly.
