The Engineering Team at ZF Duncan collaborates with a wide range of departments, including Quality, Production, Logistics, and Project Management. This PLC Programmer will support the Maintenance team and Engineers on the nightshift. Success in this position requires more than just strong communication skills-it demands a combination of technical proficiency, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced automotive environment. THIS POSITION IS FOR THE NIGHT SHIFT (7:30 PM to 4:30 AM EST) IN DUNCAN, SC. THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK THE NIGHT SHIFT, AS WELL AS WEEKENDS, OVERTIME AND HOLIDAYS AS NEEDED.

  • Program and maintain automation and control systems using PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to optimize assembly processes.
  • Provide hands-on support for shop floor control systems, including PLC hardware, software, and related automation tools, assisting maintenance teams and engineers.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution of production issues.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical personnel, ensuring effective collaboration and problem resolution.
  • Remain abreast of changes in the user and system software and hardware requirements.
  • Train end-users and maintain proper documentation with PLC's and other related shop-floor applications.
  • High school diploma and/or GED with 3-5+ years of experience in the Automotive industry.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Software and Database Software.
  • Experience in PLC logic and programming with Siemens automation, FANUC Robot programming and Servo drives.
  • Knowledge of Specialty Programming (Robot, AGV, Camera System, Keyence Equipment, Servo, etc.).
  • Prior experience in Automotive JIT/JIS environment, electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Ability to work on-call, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
