About The Position

Position is based in a manufacturing plant environment. Develop and implement PLC and HMI programming for plant process control equipment. Oversee the maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLC-based process control systems. Drive the maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of variable-frequency drives (VFD’s) and Servo Controllers within the plant. Support the adoption, deployment, and maintenance of new PLC and controls technologies to enable ongoing process improvements. Responsible for designing, programming, testing, and implementing computer-based control systems for production automation, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders on project requirements, status updates, and issue resolution. Diagnose and resolve complex control system issues; assist maintenance personnel in debugging and troubleshooting equipment problems. Provide technical support for the plant’s computer and network systems as required. Accountable for coordinating plant IT operations to deliver a secure, cost-effective, and reliable information technology infrastructure. This includes the design, support, maintenance, and management of computer hardware, software, networking, and telephony systems. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information accessed, processed, or stored on USG networks. Responsible for driving continuous improvement by evaluating and implementing new technologies, recommending system upgrades, and enhancing all computer-related activities and services. Install, configure, maintain, and provide technical support for all plant network and workstation software applications. Provide operational support for Access and SQL databases, as well as camera video systems. Train plant personnel in the effective use of computer equipment and associated software resources. Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Greenbelt certification is advantageous. Must proactively identify, plan, and execute continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in automation or equivalent relevant PLC experience required.
  • Proven experience in engineering, programming, and deploying industrial control systems.
  • Experience with control system components, ladder logic programming, HMI configuration, and relevant applications.
  • Knowledge and application of industry standard safety protocols for control and electrical systems.
  • Able to use computer systems for troubleshooting and diagnosing process control issues.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working independently; excellent organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Able to collaborate across multiple departments and with personnel not under direct supervision.
  • Skilled in fostering skill development within a workforce with varying levels of computer proficiency.
  • Must be available for after-hours technical support.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced education or demonstrated experience in IT network administration preferred.
  • Expertise in industrial instrumentation and controls design is advantageous.
  • Greenbelt certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD preferred.
