About The Position

The PLC/Ignition Programmer at Hydro will be responsible for designing, developing, and installing controller system software. This role involves traveling to various Hydro locations to analyze system requirements, write and install custom programmable logic code, test system efficiency, and provide ongoing operational support. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of automation processes within the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• PLC technical certification.
• Minimum of three years' experience as a PLC Programmer.
• Detailed knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes.
• Proficiency in CAD and AutoCAD software.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with industrial automation systems and processes including HMIs and data historians.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Ignition modules such as Vision, Perspective, and Reporting.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client locations to understand their mechanical or electrical automation requirements.
• Draw electrical or mechanical schematics to illustrate automation processes.
• Develop and install machine programs using various automation software and custom coding languages.
• Determine machine automation test criteria prior to final installation and test automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Identify and resolve system errors, ensuring smooth operation and optimal performance.
• Oversee the successful installation and integration of PLC programs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of development processes, system configurations, and modifications.
• Provide technical support to clients regarding PLC systems.
