About The Position

This position supports the industrial maintenance and engineering teams on the production floor. The Engineering Technician applies skills learned on the job from prior industrial maintenance technician or equivalent technical role and knowledge learned in engineering / technology degree program/ course of study to ensure production equipment is kept up and running.

Requirements

  • Ability to use computer based diagnostic programs such as PLC viewers, encoder setups, hydraulic systems tuning, etc. and knowledge of choosing PLC components
  • Excellent hands-on skills as evidenced by a minimum of 3-5 years as a professional industrial maintenance technician and / or evidence of successful completion of a recognized training program covering multiple skilled manufacturing disciplines.
  • Industrial Maintenance knowledge and skills including but not limited to: PLC programming experience required; Allen Bradley – Studio Logix preferred. Knowledge of choosing PLC components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings is required with the ability to create electrical prints using draft sight or autocad.
  • Ability to read and interpret 3d models and 2d drawings.
  • Proficient in CAD, SolidWorks software preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various equipment (drills, saws, hand tools, electronics, welder, torch, etc.) and a variety of maintenance equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative in the problem solving process.
  • Ability to keep track of multiple maintenance requests in fast paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete the 24-hour Haz-Mat training refresher course provided by the company and adhere to appropriate procedures.
  • Understand, comprehend and comply with the Lock Out Tag Out procedures with all equipment.
  • Understand, comprehend and comply with all safety programs and policies.
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, Digital Electronics, PLC troubleshooting, and applies knowledge and principles to troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and supportive to meet changing work demands.
  • Strong communication and a service mentality as evidenced in providing frequent and actionable updates/status of equipment.

  • Verifiable successful work experience as an industrial maintenance technician or equivalent technical role supporting a high-volume, 24-hour manufacturing operation
  • Ability to map out and communicate the troubleshooting process
  • Ability to use basic pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical controls to repair machinery and/or implement new machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in their work assignments/schedules and supportive to meet changing work demands
  • Eager to learn new processes, systems and equipment and willing to invest resources in their own vocational development.
  • Collaborative – thrives in a fast paced team environment
  • 2 Year Associates Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering

Responsibilities

  • This position includes and expands on the job requirements commensurate with an Industrial Maintenance Technician II role.
  • In addition, the Engineering Technician will provide tactical and strategic guidance on the floor and support equipment uptime and maintenance through effective diagnostic trouble shooting and maintenance intervention.
  • Consult regularly with engineering, maintenance and production plant leadership to ensure effective focus of shift maintenance team on safety and production.
