About The Position

Join our team as a Plating Machine Operator on the 1st shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) with potential overtime. You'll operate the metal plating machine and coordinate the waste treatment process, contributing to the manufacturing of high-security locks and supporting our mission to make the world a safer place. This is a technical position and while no experience is required, the successful applicant will be safety-focused and detail-oriented with the ability to closely follow a defined manufacturing process. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills. Must be able to read and understand dispatch reports and access information on a computer.
  • Able to move to various workstations and lift at 40 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Able to learn to operate equipment in Plating and Prefinish areas. Including but not limited to sanding, buffing and grinding equipment.
  • Plating experience is not required but must be able to learn and become productive under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the metal plating machine and maintain all associated chemical baths and cleaners.
  • Assist with the waste treatment system.
  • Rack and prepare parts for plating.
  • Strip and rework both brass and steel.
  • Perform the clear coat process as well as all buffing, sanding, scouring, relieving, vibratory, and rolling processes.
  • Review titration tests for the electroless nickel process and adjust accordingly.
  • Monitor the quality of plating and take action when issues arise by notifying the supervisor or area engineer.
  • Keep all paperwork organized with the product being processed.
  • Maintain the 5S program for the plating area.
  • Participate in team meetings to improve team performance, solve problems, and enhance safety.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures.
