As an Intermediate Rails Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling and improving Zipline’s cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and developer experience. You will help design automation solutions, manage containerized environments, and build tools that enable engineering teams to deliver software efficiently and reliably. This role blends hands-on cloud operations with infrastructure development.

  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure scalable, reliable, and faster deployments.
  • Collaborate with developers primarily Ruby on Rails to embed DevOps best practices into the development lifecycle.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to manage cloud resources.
  • Manage and scale containerized infrastructure on Kubernetes.
  • Support and evolve cloud environments on AWS (experience with GCP or Azure a plus).
  • Enhance system observability through improved monitoring, alerting, and telemetry.
  • Optimize database performance and scalability across PostgreSQL.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for critical production issues.
  • Partner with teams across engineering to improve platform quality, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Relevant production experience with large scale rails applications.
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (like Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Ruby preferred; Typescript/ JavaScript a plus).
  • Strong understanding of observability tools (such as Datadog and Sentry) and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
