As an Architect – Cloud Development Environment, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and developer-friendly cloud-based development environments using Coder.com. Your role will be pivotal in transforming how engineering teams build, test, and deploy software by enabling efficient, cloud-native development workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development infrastructure with business and engineering goals, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

  • Architect and manage cloud-based development environments using Coder.com across multiple teams and projects.
  • Design scalable and secure infrastructure to support containerized development environments.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of development environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Integrate Coder.com with CI/CD pipelines, identity providers, and developer tools.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, cost, and user experience of cloud development environments.
  • Establish best practices and governance for secure and compliant development workflows.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams adopting cloud-based development.
  • Stay current with trends in cloud-native development, DevOps, and remote development tooling.
  • 6+ years of experience in systems or cloud engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and managing cloud-native development environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with Coder.com or similar platforms (e.g., GitHub Codespaces, JetBrains Gateway, Gitpod).
  • 3+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
  • 3+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and/or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience integrating Coder.com with enterprise authentication and authorization systems (e.g., SSO, LDAP, OAuth).
  • Experience with observability tools for monitoring developer environments.
  • Annual incentive opportunity which may be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards.
