About The Position

Platform Engineer — Build the Foundation That Powers BillGO at Scale Are you an engineer who thrives on leverage, automation, and enabling others to move faster? At BillGO, our Platform Engineers don’t just manage infrastructure — they build the paved roads that allow engineering teams to ship safely, reliably, and independently. This role is critical to BillGO’s ability to scale. Platform Engineers design and operate the shared systems, self-service tooling, and automation that power our products and support a 10x business growth trajectory with 1x resources. As part of BillGO’s AI Empowered strategy, this role also plays a key part in incorporating AI into platform workflows and operational practices — reducing manual toil, accelerating troubleshooting, and improving reliability across our environments. Why This Role Matters Every product feature, payment flow, and customer interaction at BillGO depends on a strong, reliable platform. Platform Engineers ensure that application teams can move quickly without sacrificing security, compliance, or reliability. Your work eliminates ticket-driven bottlenecks, reduces operational friction, and creates self-service capabilities that scale with the business. By building standardized platforms, automation, and guardrails, you enable teams across BillGO to focus on delivering value — while the platform quietly and reliably does its job. This role is not about running infrastructure for others. It’s about designing systems that allow teams to run themselves.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform (or similar IaC tools).
  • Proven, non-negotiable experience delivering self-service platforms that reduce reliance on centralized infra teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert manual or ticket-based workflows into automated, scalable solutions.
  • Strong AWS networking experience, including multi-account VPC design, routing, security groups, and segmentation.
  • Experience with load balancing and WAF technologies (F5 preferred) and Cloudflare for DNS, CDN, and security.
  • Interest or experience using AI-powered tools to improve engineering workflows and platform operations.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling and using telemetry to debug and optimize systems.
  • Clear communication skills, strong documentation habits, and a collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort working in regulated or security-conscious environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Build the Platform
  • Design, build, and maintain core internal platform components, including Kubernetes base configurations, service templates, shared libraries, and Terraform modules.
  • Implement and evolve infrastructure-as-code patterns aligned with platform standards and architectural guidance.
  • Ensure platform components are secure, scalable, versioned, and easy to consume.
  • Enable Self-Service and Engineering Autonomy
  • Deliver self-service capabilities (templates, pipelines, CLIs, internal tools) that allow teams to provision infrastructure, configure services, and deploy independently.
  • Establish paved paths and golden patterns that balance autonomy with safety, security, and compliance.
  • Identify manual, ticket-driven workflows and convert them into automated or self-service solutions.
  • Measure and improve platform impact through reduced lead time, fewer infra tickets, and improved deployment frequency.
  • Own Cloud Networking and Edge Services
  • Design and operate AWS networking across multiple accounts and environments, including VPCs, routing, segmentation, and security controls.
  • Configure and support load balancing and WAF solutions, including F5 and Cloudflare, for internal and external services.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking, DNS, latency, and TLS issues in distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with security teams on zero-trust and secure access patterns.
  • Apply AI to Platform Operations
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to reduce manual toil, improve troubleshooting, and accelerate platform workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML capabilities to alerting, incident triage, log analysis, and operational automation.
  • Ensure platform and networking layers are ready to support AI-enabled workloads where appropriate.
  • Share best practices for using AI safely and effectively within the platform domain.
  • Drive Reliability and Operational Excellence
  • Implement observability (metrics, logs, traces) for platform components and critical network paths.
  • Partner with SRE to design dashboards, alerts, and runbooks that support proactive operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for platform-owned systems.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive platform improvements to prevent recurring issues.
  • Collaborate Across the Organization
  • Partner with engineering, security, operations, and compliance teams to align platform capabilities with business and regulatory needs.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and ensure new services align with platform standards.
  • Support engineering teams onboarding to platform services and advocate for platform adoption.
