About The Position

The Platform Engineer Intern position at Brightly involves working with database management and configuration in AWS. The intern will support mission-critical SQL databases, implement data security policies, and automate processes to enhance efficiency. This role is designed for individuals pursuing a degree in computer science or a related field, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic cloud environment.

Requirements

• In process of Bachelor's in computer science or related discipline.
• Experience with most (but not necessarily all): AWS (Azure a plus), SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB, Couchbase, RedShift, SentryOne, Datadog, CloudWatch, Jenkins, DACPACs, Redgate tools, Bitbucket, GitHub, SVN, PowerShell, Bash, Python (C# or GO a plus), Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, SAM.
• Multi-Cloud experience will be preferred.
• Experience with SQL Clustering and Availability Groups and database replication.
• Experience with monitoring and provisioning SQL Server in AWS/Azure.
• Ability to automate redundant tasks using scripts, jobs, and other technologies.
• Strong communication, partnership, teamwork, and influencing skills required.
• Experience with source control, with a database engineering background.

Nice To Haves

• NoSQL database knowledge will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and monitor SQL server databases in a 24X7 enterprise hybrid cloud environment.
• Support mission-critical SQL databases with advanced troubleshooting skills for performance and tuning.
• Develop, implement, and administer data security, data retention, and integrity policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor backup processes and procedures and ensure point-in-time recoverability of the environment.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes for efficiency and cost optimization.
• Create, maintain, and document processes for managing production database systems.
• Stay updated with the latest technology trends.
• Hands-on experience in supporting and implementing Always-on SQL deployment.
• Apply SQL Server patches on regular cycles and regarding environment restrictions and maintenance windows.
• Perform capacity planning including future storage requirements.
