The Software organization develops the applications that drive missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems, as well as the integration and test software. These applications integrate firmware, operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control capabilities to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. We have an exciting opportunity for a Platform Engineer II to join our Electro-Optical & Infrared (EO/IR) Solutions Engineering Team in McKinney, TX, which is part of our Advanced Products & Solutions group. In this role you will design, implement, test, and maintain the infrastructure and tooling that enables the development of Electro-Optical & Infrared Solutions software for Raytheon’s Advanced Products & Solutions group. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with container orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, Helm
  • Experience with computer scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python and Experience with the Linux operating system
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with CICD pipeline implementation using GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience troubleshooting performance, reliability, and availability issues across Linux-based platforms and infrastructure services
  • Experience configuring and deploying Kubernetes applications with Helm
  • Hands on experience building container images
  • VM and container hardening and vulnerability analysis experience
  • Repository management experience with tools such as Artifactory or Nexus
  • Familiar with Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi
  • Software development experience in at least one major programming language such as C++, Java, Go, Rust, or Python
  • Working knowledge of Monitoring/Observability frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Package management experience with tools such as npm, Conan, Maven, or Cargo
  • Experience with Static Code Analysis tools such as SonarQube and Coverity
  • Familiar with relational databases: SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • AWS experience, including services such as EC2, IAM, EKS, S3, CloudWatch, and VPC
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab for repository management.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cyber security, software engineers, systems engineers, and implementation teams to ensure security, performance, and deployment compliance.
  • Develop modern, robust DevOps strategies, practices, and tools to accelerate software deployment, development, and verification.
  • Automate the deployment of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to eliminate manual processes
  • Standardize, optimize and maintain CICD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable build, test and analysis automations
  • Work directly with DevOps, infrastructure software, and cloud services such as Helm, Golang, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Podman, Kubernetes, and AWS GovCloud.
  • Improve Developer Experience (DevEx) by providing easy to use tools and documentation
