Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Platform Engineer II / Linux with experience in Linux Infrastructure Engineering to join an agile product team. The Ideal candidate will have general experience in both traditional infrastructure provisioning of platform resources for existing on-premises infrastructure hardware that ideally also has basic experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies. The Platform Engineer II would be engaged in the daily implementation of the system updates and upgrades with Focus on the Linux Server / Linux OS. The Platform Engineer II / Linux would be involved with implementation of traditional computing/network/storage systems and related software updates, as well as maintaining operating systems and existing server hardware designs, and supporting the design and development of new modernized system designs as needed.

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics.
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (E.g. scrum, SAFe).
  • Experience with VMware.
  • Experience with programming languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
  • Current TS/SCI issued security clearance is required day 1.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, ability to obtain a CI Poly for Privileged User access to the system.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Linux LDAP for creating Linux based accounts and managing roles and permissions.
  • Experience with basic Linux Bash scripting for task automation and management of existing scripts.
  • Experience with Layer7 technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with modernization technologies such as Terraform/Ansible, Artifactory, x-ray, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Sonarqube etc.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to develop and communicate implementation of infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain existing systems through Linux Based Tools and manage the COTS stack on the system to support program needs.
  • Assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool such as VMWare.
  • Ensure that the COTS stack and versioning and work with the team to make updates as necessary.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist with system updates and deliveries when necessary.
