The Platform Engineer I is responsible for the creation and implementation of platform infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of platform products. This role involves working with cloud environments, automating deployment processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product development and operations. The Platform Engineer I engages in troubleshooting and maintaining the overall performance of the platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, relative field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud environments, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) required.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) required.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and command-line tools required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, analysis and organizing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) preferred.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git preferred.
  • Minimal experience with automation tools or practices (e.g., CI/CD pipelines) preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) preferred.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer) preferred.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and service mesh technologies.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation preferred.
  • Basic understanding of containerization technologies like Docker preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement infrastructure to support product development and deployment.
  • Participate in setting up and configuring cloud environments.
  • Monitor platform systems to ensure stability, availability, and performance.
  • Support routine maintenance activities, including system backups, patching, and log management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the production environment by providing first-level support for platform-related incidents.
  • Escalate complex issues to Platform Engineer II.
  • Participate in the deployment of products to the platform, ensuring adherence to deployment standards and practices.
  • Automate deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to understand platform requirements and support their needs.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to grow in platform engineering expertise.
