Platform Engineer (Compute Migration)

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, or DevOps Engineering roles, with significant time spent on large-scale compute migrations.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes (design, deployment, operations, networking, security, and scaling).
- Hands-on experience with AWS compute services, particularly AWS Lambda and ECS/Fargate, and a clear understanding of their operational models and scaling behaviors.
- Proven experience migrating production workloads from traditional cloud compute (VMs, Lambdas, ECS) to Kubernetes.
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker) and modern CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in and/or migrating to workflow orchestartion tools.
- Experience with Python or Go for tooling development and automation.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust, scalable, and automated solutions for running event-driven, serverless-like workflows on Kubernetes, potentially utilizing technologies like KEDA or similar cloud-native tools.
- Use Terraform/Terragrunt and Helm to build and manage the necessary underlying Kubernetes infrastructure, networking, and deployment tooling.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to understand their unique workload requirements, provide consultation on re-platforming best practices, and develop standardized tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines) for easy migration and deployment.
- Benchmark migrated services, optimize resource requests/limits, and implement advanced observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) solutions to ensure parity or improvement in service SLOs.
- Establish best practices, guardrails, and documentation for running event-based compute on Kubernetes to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable operation post-migration.
