About The Position

Located in St. Joseph, Michigan, LECO continues to be a family-owned company that understands the value of shared interests, long-term stability, loyalty, and trust.   Schedule:   Full Time: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday, Overtime as needed 5:00am to 3:30pm   Position Summary: High level of various plating process knowledge.  Operates automatic hand hoist or riding hoist.  Performs bath analysis, chemical adds, and tank maintenance.  Process work orders to daily scheduling provided by the Plating/Paint Supervisor.  Perform various plating processes, bead blast, polishing and buffing.  Maintain high standard of quality through lab analysis, record and monitor to ensure bath parameters are in operating range and by following written procedures for plating processes.

Requirements

  • Handling of chemicals and or hazardous waste
  • Wear proper PPE when making chemical adds or new bath make-up 
  • Chemistry background
  • Knowledge of AA (Atomic Absorption)
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Operate Lab equipment
  • Basic Quality Skills (LECO instructed)
  • Right-To-Know Training
  • Cyanide Training (LECO instructed)
  • Operate a Forklift Truck and obtain LECO forklift license.
  • Blueprint Reading (LECO instructed)
  • Safe Operation Training of Riding Hoist, semi-automatic hoist (LECO instructed)
  • Pre-Plate Surface Finishing “on the job training and safety in handling” of Orbital Air Sander

Responsibilities

  • Pick up LECO parts from Raw Parts holding area and move to workstation
  • Responsible for making sure the Router Sheet revision level matches the blueprint revision level accompanying the LECO manufactured parts
  • Responsible for contacting the Plating/Paint Supervisor if the Router Sheet revision level does not match the revision level on the blueprint
  • Responsible for NOT processing parts if revision level does not match router sheet or blueprint
  • Process LECO parts according to blueprint and Router sheet
  • Review router/process sheet instructions and recommend necessary changes to Plating/Paint Supervisor or Dept Manager
  • Responsible to write the qty, initials and date on the Router Sheet when parts are finished
  • Move finished parts to next department
  • Responsible to set up workstation to prevent overreaching and bending
  • Responsible to record daily work performed on R8.5.1.5; R8.5.1.6 Racking & Un-racking Sheet
  • Responsible for R8.5.1.2 process by due date “Open Orders Report”
  • Racks parts before plating. Un-racks, inspects, and packs parts after plating
  • High level of various plating processes knowledge utilizing riding hoist, manual crane hoist, or hand dip parts by immersion in plating baths
  • Required to operate automatic hand hoist or riding hoist in an appropriate safe manner
  • Suspends parts from hoists, picks up hooks, racks, trays, baskets, holding objects to be plated
  • Covers objects by immersion in the Plating baths
  • Responsible to inspect racked parts prior to processing to ensure parts are secured tightly
  • Selects proper plating solution according to written process sheets
  • Hand carry parts by using hooks, racks, trays, baskets, or other devices holding parts to be plated 
  • Required to visually inspect objects during process for cleanliness, appearance, coverage, etc.
  • Wear proper (PPE) rubber gloves, mask, and apron when processing parts through Nitric
  • Required to notify supervisor when equipment is not operating efficiently
  • Responsible for good housekeeping, keeping hoses, brooms, etc. clear from catwalk
  • Required to perform sufficient work to meet and maintain established production schedules
  • Perform other related duties when required and directed by the Plating/Paint Supervisor/ Dept. Manager
  • Assure that labor is reported timely and correctly
  • Required to notify supervisor when equipment is not operating efficiently
  • Notify Plating/Paint Supervisor of all problems that occur
  • Make chemical adds to plating baths if needed
  • Required to perform bath analysis and record results on form R9.1.1. Monthly Bath Analysis form
  • Required to perform and record results on form R9.1.1.3. Bath Analysis Multi Use Form as needed
  • Required to perform and record results on form R9.1.1.5 Spot Test Result – Record
  • Required to complete R9.1.1.6 Chemical Add Slip when making Chemical Adds as needed and turn slip into the plating office
  • Required to perform and record on form R7.1.5.1.4. pH Meter Calibration Sign-Off as needed
  • Required to perform and record on form R7.1.5.1.5. Calibration Sign-Off HACH Conductivity Meter as needed
  • Required to record Metal Turn Overs on form R9.1.1.4 Metal Turn Over (MTO) for E-Nickel Bath.
  • Assist with Tank Maintenance as needed
  • Responsible to contact the Waste Treatment Operator for permission to release any plating bath, rinse waters ect….to Waste Treatment
  • Assist Plating/Paint Supervisor and or the Department Manager with chemical inventory
  • Responsible to wear personal protective gear when adding large chemical adds or new line make-up 
  • Responsible for pre-plate surface finishing when required using miscellaneous hand tools such as Orbital Air Sander, Buffing, Polishing and Bead Blaster
  • Responsible to wear protective form fitting gloves while operating sanding equipment
  • Provides job training for other employees
