About The Position

The Plater I is responsible for performing hands-on plating and metal processing operations for aerospace components in accordance with customer and industry standards. This includes surface preparation, cleaning, chemical processing, and operating specialized equipment. The role operates under minimal supervision and contributes to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to read code/machine language, write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats.
  • Demonstrated application and execution of different problem solving techniques while prioritizing workload, tasks and functions to internal &/or external situations.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual must maintain either no facial hair a NIOSH Approved Beard as pursuit to Cal/OSHA California Code or Regulations, Title 8, Section 5144(g)(1)(A) and pass an annual respirator fit test.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Database systems

  • Technical Skills – Technical skills in Quality Assurance and manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and inspection equipment; Good understanding of Geometric tolerance per ANSI Y145; Proficient in the use of Calipers, Micrometers, Height gages, ring gages, pin gages, go and no-go pin gages, optical comparator and microscopes; Reads and understands blueprints

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time. The employee is required to speak or listen and requires eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand and arm movement and manual dexterity use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must regularly bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing level within normal/average range.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-3 years of experience in manufacturing or metal processing preferred
  • Experience in aerospace plating or familiarity with NADCAP standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Processing to be ran are the following: Abrasive cleaning & Glass beading, Titanium Descaling (Hot Salt), Part Washing using Modified Alcohol, Aluminum Anodize Sorting, Copper strip, Strip Phosphate, and Passivation.
  • Perform surface preparation using grit blasting, vapor degreasing wash, and hot salt techniques.
  • Operate plating equipment such as spin dryers, hoists, bake ovens, and sandblasters.
  • Handle chemical processing of parts per customer and internal specifications.
  • Monitor plating tanks and safely transfer chemicals using pumps when necessary.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment daily, report malfunctions to the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all tools and machines are operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers to ensure product quality.
  • Meet all internal and customer plating specifications and standards.
  • Identify and escalate any nonconformance issues or deviations in process.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions and plating specifications
  • Adheres and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practices.
  • All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
  • Respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules)
  • Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to his or her superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection
  • Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact
