UniMetal Surface Finishing LLC is seeking a dedicated Plater to join our team on the 2nd shift from 2 PM to 10:30 PM in Thomaston, CT. As a Plater, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our finishing processes meet customer specifications and quality standards. This position is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in manufacturing and surface finishing, as we provide comprehensive training and opportunities for advancement within the company. In this role, you will be responsible for training new employees on safety, housekeeping, and production procedures. You will check the overall quality of work to ensure it meets customer specifications and maintain on-time delivery standards. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will be required to interpret and fill out daily production maintenance sheets and other departmental paperwork. You will also be skilled in making chemical additions to baths, calculating the weight of loads, and verifying travelers and piece counts for all jobs. Operating an air hoist safely and maintaining accurate production and safety records are also key responsibilities of this position. Additionally, you will be proficient in running dryers, cob tumblers, and packing containers, as well as reading Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and technical sheets to know when to start, stop, or change filters. A strong attendance and safety record is expected, along with the ability to operate X-Ray machines, gauges, and baking ovens.
