About The Position

As the Plate Technician you are responsible for creating plates; assembling, verifying and organizing plate jackets; producing label standard folders; and collecting any other resources required by Production. You are also responsible for verifying the same resources upon return and filing them away in their correct location. As the Plate Technician, all duties must be followed in accordance with the Company's quality, safety and performance standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience in a printing environment.
  • The ability to prioritize, multi-task and be proactive in the completion of job duties.
  • Expert level attention to detail and organization/collation.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, quick turn environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plates in accordance with departmental procedures and quality standards
  • Inspect plates for adherence to quality standards and maintain required documentation for plate specifications in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Review and assemble necessary elements for Production in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Verify plates to be complete and correct against job paperwork prior to release from the department
  • Create plate jackets and label standard folders and maintain their filing systems
  • Review plate jackets for completeness upon return from Production and identify missing or damaged plates
  • Communicate with Graphics and Scheduling to prioritize jobs in order to meet customer expectations, deadlines and scheduling requirements
  • Perform tests to ensure equipment is in proper operating condition in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding any issues with equipment and/or supply requirements
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with quality and safety standards
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documentation
  • Maintain a filing system for plate jackets and label standards
  • Work as part of team in supporting the Company's total quality efforts by supporting continuous, on-going process improvement, methods, and productivity
  • Attend training classes and keep current with the latest technology and software tools
  • Comply with all certification requirements
  • Other duties, including special projects, as assigned
