About The Position

The Platemaker ensures the quality of plates, incoming customer files, proofs and layouts in the prepress department.

Requirements

  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
  • Ability to effectively work in teams
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
  • Must have computer skills and experience with the Macintosh platform and understanding of an ERP system
  • Hight school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer software knowledge of Adobe graphic software suite and Esko software is a plus
  • Specialized graphics training and CTP experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines
  • Be aware of responsibilities and accountability as clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems
  • Understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements
  • Follow SOP to quality check customer proofs before they are sent out to customer
  • Quality check HP layouts before they are sent to plating
  • Help quality check printing plates as needed
  • Troubleshoot and make decisions regarding the quality of finished product
  • Ensure quality checklists and paperwork are complete and correct by EPP
  • Understand electronic filing system and job folder system to open/save files and retrieve/store job folders
  • Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during operation of the assigned equipment
  • Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
  • Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned equipment and surrounding area
  • Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
  • Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
