About The Position

The Plate Maker position at IGT in Lakeland, FL, is responsible for producing finished plates for flexo printing in a high-speed printing and packaging operation. This role involves setting up plate exposure equipment, ensuring quality control of finished plates, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The position is entry-level and requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience from manufacturing, packaging, printing, quality or related job functions.
• Must have computer skills to navigate folders and files on the company network.
• Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one, via telephone, and via email.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 90% of the day, bend and lift light to medium materials weighing up to 50 lbs, and reach at or above shoulder height with good dexterity.
• Attention to detail, organized and able to meet deadlines, while still maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
• Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of printing industry preferred.
• Kodak Therma-Flex plate setter preferred.
• Incline wash unit for Flexo plates preferred.
• ArtPro step and repeat imposition software preferable.

Responsibilities

• Works from provided flats, job ticket, working papers, and verbal instructions.
• Setup plate exposure equipment and loads film flats and underdeveloped printing plates.
• Ensure vacuum frame and glass are free of dust, debris, etc., and exposure for proper amount of time.
• Perform manual and step and repeat operations as required.
• Check finished plates or proofs for flaws, position, and check for proper exposure using standard scales and printers loop.
• Send proofs for customer and production approval as required, make plates from approved proofs or film and send to pressroom.
• Notify manager of any equipment problems or issues.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly.
