About The Position

Acrylic Design Associates, a Taylor Corporation company, is looking for a Plastics Prototype Fabricator to join the team in Plymouth, MN! This role demands a deep understanding of materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and the ability to translate sophisticated designs into tangible prototypes.

Requirements

• Ability to set up and operate table saws, routers, jointers, drill presses, sanders, and various hand tools
• Experience in rapid prototyping or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read, interpret and decipher technical drawings, written instructions, and other documents
• Proficiency in using measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measure
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities to document findings and collaborate with team members
• Good problem solving and math skills and the capability to identify issues and recommend corrective actions
• Experience in cabinet making, fine woodworking or model making would all be relatable skill-sets

Nice To Haves

• Vertical mill and CNC lathe operation experience
• LED lighting experience
• CAD / Design background

Responsibilities

• Fabricate plastic prototypes using methods such as solvent bonding, line bending, polishing, taping, structural adhesives, light-cure bonding, and mechanical fasteners
• Work closely with designers, engineers, customers, and stakeholders to understand product requirements and translate them into functional prototypes
• Troubleshoot and refine fabrication processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, cost, and quality of prototypes while also planning for scalability and repeatability in production
• Identify appropriate materials based on requirements such as strength, flexibility, chemical resistance, and temperature resistance
• Fabricate prototypes incorporating a variety of materials such as: many kinds of plastics, wood, metal, and composite materials
• Create detailed reports on prototype development processes, outcomes, and recommendations for design improvements
