  • Ensures that safe practices and procedures are consistently followed by all personnel and that all work areas are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly manner. Provides leadership to the safety program. Performs and/or participates in accident investigations and Hazard Assessments.
  • Commitment to Total Quality Leadership (TQL) through implementation of the Quality Policy and participation in, or support of, teams and work groups. Understand and comply with all applicable requirements of the Company's ISO/cGMP quality system as documented in the Quality Manual, System Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  • Support experimental and production compounding operations.
  • Design molded structures and manage outside design activities for structures; manage relationships with mold builder and molding companies including managing external design and manufacturing of molded and extruded plastics for packaging. Develop mold design parameters in unit molds for design of multicavity molds. Qualify multicavity production molds for parts production.
  • Develop and manage external injection molders: process approvals/audits, validate structures, specifications and product acceptance standards.
  • Collaborate with sales and customers' technologists to design and validate structures.
  • Supervise and upgrade the injection molding operation, equipment and facilities and manage the scale up when it occurs.
  • Collaborate with R&D on the development of new product lines, product line extensions, processes and manufacturing methods to maximize product reliability and to assure maximum market penetration and profitability.
  • Define compounding and injection/blow processes suitable to manufacture active.
  • Scale up of various injection molding products as they are developed to pilot or production process including process development and design.
  • Support the establishment of a capability for in process finished goods testing and raw materials testing, analysis and evaluation; define test programs and procedures for newly developed processes and manufacturing methods.
  • Assure that adequate project management and records/documentation of technical information, formulas, process methods and standards are maintained.
  • Ensure that new products are capable of being produced at a consistent quality level.
  • Support Sales/Marketing personnel at customer sales calls/visits and at trade shows as required.
  • Provides visible and high impact leadership to all production personnel including leading production meetings and implementing and monitoring production plans to meet or exceed the expected results.
  • Manages personnel on shift including administering weekly payroll, monitoring attendance, appraising and disciplining employees, to include termination as necessary following company policies and procedures.
  • Reviews personnel requirements and assists in the interviewing, selection, hiring, training and development of production personnel.
  • Organizes the activities of all personnel in such a manner as to obtain maximum utilization of personnel and equipment in a safe, quality manner.
  • Investigate new molding techniques.
  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Chemical, Mechanical, and/or Packaging Engineering with an emphasis on material science or plastics.
  • 5-7 years of experience in injection molding operations including development and scale up of new materials and equipment using injection molding. New product design and prototype of novel injection molded structures.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience of managing material changes in pharma/ food markets.
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast moving and changing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
